Commentary
The text is written in two lines, both of them later crossed out. It is most likely that the text was written on an ostracon rather than on a complete vessel. The letters of both lines make best sense if taken as personal names. Εὐθυμίη is attested in our region (LGPN online V4-17801), at Nymphaion, on a vase of 480-470 BCE (SGDI 5579 = Tolstoy 108 = LSAG2 p. 373, Pl. 72, no. 63 ; = Arch. Class. 25-6 (1973-4) p. 349 no. 15). Several male names einding in -ξης are known, inluding e.g. Ἀλεξῆς, Ἀναξῆς, Ξέρξης, etc.
